FBC Marysville Weekly Newsletter

Last Week:

- On Sunday, we enjoyed an attendance of 64, and with our final time of giving for the month of June, we exceeded what was necessary to meet budget. Thanks be to God that He has provided for us so well, and thank you for being a church family which is generous and gladly giving to God's mission.

- Grow and Know 100 finished: On Sunday, we finished our discipleship class on the spiritual disciplines, rounding out our time with evangelism and sabbath.

- Michael Shepherd: On Sunday, Michael Shepherd stepped into the pulpit for the first time. He has been a member in our church family for over a year now, feels a draw towards leadership and possibly pastoral ministry, and he knocked it out of the park! He fed our family well with God's Word and gave us some helpful direction regarding prayer.

Announcements:

- Grow and Know 200: On Sunday, July 12th, we will begin our theology cohort by studying Bibliology. This being the study of the Bible, what our Bible is, how we got it, and what God's Word has purposed to do.

- Background Checks: Thank you to those who received and completed their background checks. This is a big help to us as leaders. If you have not received an email regarding your background check yet, this was on purpose and you will receive one soon (If you work in security or with children).

- Business meeting: Our Business meeting for the month of June was postponed. We will reconvene at a later date to ensure we are all up to date on the business of the church as well as having the opportunity to cast vision for the future.

- Join a community group!: This is where the rubber meets the road of life. Gathering with people who love you and want to cheer you on in the middle of the week is a life-giving and soul-transforming experience.

Prayer Requests:

- Madison family: Continue praying for Patti's mother as she is facing a terminal bout with cancer. She is on hospice care currently.

- The many sick, injured, and homebound in our family: We have several members who are dealing with illness, injury, and the inability to be able to gather with us on Sunday mornings. Pray for their comfort, for their health, and for their joy in this season of life.

- Maranatha Southside: My good friend, Justin Bubar has embarked on a replanting journey on the south side of Columbus. This area is hard, dark, and more difficult to reach than our immediate context. Pray for Justin's rest, for the Lord's providence, for the growth of their church family, and for God to transform their area of influence through them.

Weekly Devotional from: Colossians 1:1-14

On Sunday, we opened up our study of Paul's letter to the Colossians as Michael Shepherd taught us from the first 15 verses of the book. There is much to say about this passage, but I would like to stick with the striking picture of the way in which Paul was praying for the church at Colossae. Look with me at verses 9-12

And so, from the day we heard, we have no ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to Him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; being strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy; giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light.(Col. 1:9-12 ESV)

In this text, and per the charge of Michael, let us challenge ourselves to pray for one another, for our church, for ourselves this week with this passage as our roadmap. Pray like Paul for the following:

1.) That we would know the will of God

2.) That we would produce good fruit as individuals and as a church

3.) That we would all increase in our knowledge of God

4.) That we would all be strengthened by the Lord's power for: endurance, patience, and joy

5.) That we would do all of this giving thanks to the Father
