- Pray that the message of the resurrection which will be proclaimed this weekend, Lord willing, would fall on fertile soil leading to the salvation of many souls.
Weekly Devotion From the Gospel of Matthew:
This week is Holy Week, which means we will spend the week as a church family reflecting on the final week of Jesus' earthly ministry. That being said, instead of one devotional study focused on one particular aspect of a brief text, this week we would like to encourage you to do a bit more reading. Below, I have outlined the what and the why of the task at hand...
The what of the task:
- Throughout this Holy Week, read from Matthew 21 through to the end of the book in order to follow our Lord through the end of His earthly ministry.
The why of the task:
- In these 7 short chapters, God has given us the opportunity to watch His gospel plan for our redemption unfold. Chapter 21 begins with Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem. Then, what followed Jesus' arrival in the city would be a series of events where Jesus is referencing, working towards, and preparing for the cross where He would be crushed for our sin. You will read how Jesus was truly killed, truly buried, and truly resurrected, accomplishing for us the defeat of sin and death in order that by God's grace and by faith in Jesus and His work alone, we can be saved.
